Our community has diverse needs and interests. I have responded through community presentations by assembling a network of immigrant service providers and advocates from around the Borough.
The task force members will continue to share their expertise in neighborhood forums and will be featured in an Immigrant Services Directory.
The Refugee Immigrant Fund welcomes any person who had to flee their country because of persecution and/or torture. We provide free legal and psychosocial assistance in order to help you access asylum and protection in the US.

The Dominican-American Society of Queens, Inc. (DAS) is a nonprofit organization created in 1993 in response to the educational, social and cultural challenges that impede the development of the Hispanic community in the United States. Our mission is to improve the community’s self-image in order to help our population reach its highest goals and aspirations.
Latin Women in Action, Inc. is a comprehensive community based social service agency, founded and incorporated in 1990 by and for Latina Women. Its mission and goal are to provide essential services to Hispanic women and their families within New York State.
Mexicanos Unidos is a not-for-profit volunteer organization, serving the Mexican and Latino/a community in New York City. Our mission is to provide HIV/AIDS prevention, through education, referrals and advocacy. Mexicanos Unidos uses art, the Mexican culture and traditions and other forms to promote the prevention of HIV/AIDS as well as to encourage solidarity and understanding towards people who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
Pachamama Peruvian Arts serves the needs of immigrant and American children with a free after-school arts program. Based at PS 212, Jackson Heights, Queens, Pachamama offers children the opportunity to explore the cultural arts of Peru as they build self-esteem and develop positive peer interactions.

Voces Latinas (VL) started it’s work in 2003 as part of the Western Queens HIV Care Network. A group of certified social workers in the HIV field who were also part of the Network were concerned about the high rates of HIV among women of color, particularly immigrant Latinas, as there exists a gap in services for this hard to reach population due to immigration status, documentation status, language barrier, and cultural norms. Voces Latinas saw a need for more outreach, education, advocacy and resources in Spanish for this population. VL began raising money in order to hold conferences and forums in Queens targeting immigrant Latinas living with and at risk for HIV. This was an opportunity to invite the HIV specialist to come to Queens and talk to the population at hand, as it is often impossible for these women to attend conferences often times held in English and in other parts of the country. The response to the conferences and forums was so positive that Voces Latinas began holding bi-monthly community workshops around issues placing Latinas at high risk for HIV/AIDS such as domestic violence, alcohol and substance abuse, depression, isolation, low self esteem, trauma, etc. These workshops quickly turned weekly. The workshops continue to be held weekly and also serve to provide an opportunity for Latinas to meet and provide each other emotional support and an opportunity to tell their stories, which for many of them is the first time ever openly talking about their lives.
To advance the rights of Asian Americans and all those in need through advocacy and access in civil rights, immigrant assistance, social services, affordable housing, and economic development; to empower our communities through research and publishing that embody our issues and concerns; and to foster understanding and unity among diverse communities through building coalitions and forming collaborations.
Adhikaar, meaning rights in Nepali, is a New York-based women-led non-profit organization working with Nepali communities to promote human rights and social justice for all.
