Bilingual Spanish/English workshop on art and the idea of identity for women in the community
In this workshop we will practice English language skills while looking at images from Art History and making art. Through basic ideas of self-portraiture by women in the history of art we will bring up issues in conversation on ideas of self- perception, identification or conflict with female conventional roles within society, and ideas of how our community, background and nationality define who we are. The images displayed will be a springboard from which to share stories, practice some artistic skills through the mediums of drawing or collage, and question notions of how we can think of our identity as malleable rather than static.

Aprende Ingles a través de imágenes de mujeres como tu y a través del arte e ideas de la identidad propia.
En este taller practicaremos y aprenderemos Ingles viendo imágenes de la historia del arte. Através del medio del autorretrato discutiremos acerca de lo que han hecho las mujeres en el arte, y hablaremos sobre las ideas de la identidad propia y la que nos dicta la sociedad o nuestros roles como madres, hijas, esposas etc. Discutiremos acerca de nuestras historias propias, nuestras aspiraciones y sueños y crearemos obras de arte con dibujo y collage para pensar en quienes somos como mujeres
independientes.
