Biography
Carlos Yescas is a PhD student in Politics at the New School for Social Research. His current research explores how the term Indigenous Peoples is created at the international level, reinforced in the transnational space, and used in local politics by native communities. His work centers on the categorization by the U.S. Census of indigenous immigrants, as Latin American Indians and its implications for understandings of race/ethnicity and transnational affiliation.
