CINEMAROSA, monthly LGBT film program in Queens, launches the program EVA –Escuela
Videográfica Alternativa (Alternative School for Videomaking) in collaboration with Immigrant Movement International. The video workshops will introduce participants to work with cameras, mobile devices, and editing software. To program will focus on creating stories created by Gay, Lesbian and Transgender people living in Queens and New York City at large.
EVA consists of weekly sessions that will take place on Fridays, 7 to 9 PM at the headquarters of Immigrant Movement International in Corona, Queens. The project will culminate with a public screening on Sunday, May 20th, 3 – 6 PM as part of CINEMAROSA’s Eight Anniversary Celebration hosted at the auditorium of the Queens Museum of Art.

Presentation of Sebastiano d’Ayala’s award winning documentary “Angel,” about a former boxer from Ecuador, who worked as a prostitute in Paris to support himself and his extended family. After five years away, Angel returns home, only to find ambiguous relationships and the same grinding poverty he left behind. Openly queer and living between genders, Angel faces frequent harassment, which he gracefully defuses and transforms into acceptance. Angel’s riveting story explores the intersections between migration, poverty, perseverance, sexuality and gender.

CINEMAROSA, serie mensual de cine independiente LGBT, inicia programa EVA –Escuela
Videográfica Alternativa (Alternative School for Videomaking) en colaboración con Immigrant Movement International. Los talleres de video introducen a los participantes al uso de cámaras, móviles y programas de edición. El proyecto se enfocara en la creación de historias realizadas por participantes que se identifiquen como gay, lesbiana, o transgenero ó para aquellas personas que deseen explorar temas relacionados con experiencias LGBT. Interesados pueden vivir en cualquier condado en la ciudad de Nueva York.
EVA consiste de talleres semanales cada VIERNES de 7 a 9 PM realizados en las oficinas de Immigrant Movement International en Corona, Queens. El proyecto culminará con la presentación pública de los trabajos en día Domingo 20 de Mayo, 3 – 6 PM como parte del programa de CINEMAROSA y de la celebración de su octavo aniversario a realizarse en el Queens Museum of Art, Museo de Arte de Queens.

Presentación del galardonado documental “ANGEL” dirigido por Sebastiano d’Ayala. “ANGEL” cuenta la historia de un ex-boxeador Ecuatoriano que trabajo como prostituta en las calles de París. Después de cinco años, al regresar a su país, Angel encuentra la misma pobreza que había dejado Su historia explora las intersecciones entre la migración, pobreza, perseverancia, sexualidad e identidad.
