Project Description:
Inspired by the work of Mexico’s Superbarrio I will arrive to Socrates Sculpture Park in the lucha libre/performance persona of El Conquistador. Dressed in both a formal suit and his traditional luchador mask, El C. will stand at an elevated podium – a sculpture entitled Das Grau (medium platform) by Nick Paparone, utilizing the piece as a presidential stage. Using a megaphone, El C. will address both the passerby park-goers and the entire city of New York represented by the Manhattan skyline at his back, pronouncing the International Migrant Manifesto.
